The most important budget item...the Photographer

No matter the wedding budget, big or small, one of the most difficult things is how to divide it up. There are the obvious things like the venue which will take up a large portion of the cost then there are areas where you can save; DIY decor for example, changing the type of flower you're using (see our tips on this). At Lula&Rye you know we love a DIY wedding however there is one thing that I would suggest you never scrimp on...the photographer. Of course you have the memories of the day and you’ll feel so proud of all the things you pull together and all the DIYs that you put so much love and attention to however the photographs are the one tangible memory that will take you back to that moment and you want that to be beautiful. For that reason alone, this is one area where you should not be looking to save money. I promise this is a cost that you won’t regret! Importantly, do your research. Look through blogs and find styles that you love, photographers will often be willing to travel as long as you pay their expenses so don't let their location put you off. It's also important that you get on with the photographer, as they are capturing such a special day in your life you need to have a great connection and feel comfortable around them.

There are so many amazing wedding photographers out there which makes the decision even harder but it’s important to find someone whose style you adore and that will ensure you get the shots that you want.
